Where was toilet paper born???

PS:: This is not a post script but a pre-script advising you all to be careful regarding the gross matter involved in the article. I would try to put it in as scientific words as possible.

People say usually that in the morning they complete their daily chores and go to work. The most important of them is that of getting rid of the waste material from your large intestine. After you do that you need to clean your bottom. People have different techniques for that. Ever did you think what people in ancient times used to do. They used to grab something that is available to them like shells, snow, moss, hay, leaves, grass, lately they have been using water, newspapers, magazines.

But the trend of using toilet paper started in the second half of the nineteenth century after the invention of tissue paper in 1857 by a New York entrepreneur named Joseph Gayetty, who claimed his sheets prevented hemorrhoids. The products designed specifically to wipe ones' bottom were aloe-infused sheets of manila hemp dispensed from kleenex-like boxes.

Toilet paper became into its now form of roll when in 1890 two brothers Clarence and Scott popularized the concept of toilet paper on a roll. The Scott's brand became more successful than Gayetty. People were very shy to ask for a toilet paper roll those days, just like asking for a condom is a shy thing in many countries till date. This article was forward to me by my Miami friend and all credits to CNN for giving the exposure...
