I rely a lot on Google gears just for my Gmail backup. You never know when Gmail might end in doom or atleast it will hang up on you and all your mail is on Google servers. If you want to retrieve the mail you have no other way but to wait for Google to get back. You may have to wait for eternity or the end of the world for Google to come back. Hope that day never comes.
But you don't have to be part of such a world. You can have access to your gmail even when there is no internet. I doesn't mean the real time mail but the mail you previously recieved. You can just backup the mail to your system using google gears along with your gmail on Firefox. With firefox upgrading to 3.5 I was left in dark but now I am back into limelight with Google gears upgrading to the newer version of Firefox...
