If there is one sportsman whom people love not just because his victories, not just because his records, not just because his celebrity status, not just because his humanitarian service, then he definitely is a legend according to me. Lance Edward Armstrong is one such living legend. Why I call him a legend.
Because he won the world famous Tour de France, seven consecutive times in the same no. of years from 1999 to 2005. Because he came back from the face of death, after he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, when he was at age 25. Because he races not for fun but for a cause, not for records but for a reason. Because he is what he is today is just enough for a lot others to build hope on their dwindling lives and fight against all odds. These are a few reasons why I call him a legend.
He did not win the race in 2006 because he retired after winnin seven consecutive times. Now he is back into the race at the age of 38 years and claimed third position in the overall race standings by racing against the younger legs of 25 and 28 years old guys. That's why he is the legend. I salute you Lance with the respect that I give to a few....
