Softwares I use... Part III - VLC media player...


This is one media player which wasn't that great a player 3 years back and had so less patrons that even the high-fi computer users weren't aware of its presence around them. But change the calender 3 years and here you are with VLC media player leading the tarmac ahead of all other media players when it comes to playing video files. This hasn't been possible in a single day but it took some years and lots of codecs later, VLC is here at its present status. Just as Rome wasn't built in a single day.


But why only VLC? VLC is the only player available for free and plays almost every possible media file ranging from .avi to .mkv and .dat as well. This is the most important point in the mass appeal of VLC. You don't need to install millions of media players for playing varied media files.

VLC comes with almost all the available codecs for playing media files and yet it uses the most minimalistic resources from your CPU. It barely uses around 50 MB of your most precious RAM. VLC has recently released version 1.0 which is an updated version with lots of fixes and lot of new codecs for you. Try it out from the link below...
