India Digitally Stranded

One of today's biggest stories is the fact that India and the Middle East had about 75% of their digital connection to Europe cut off when two cables on the floor of the Mediterranean snapped under mysterious circumstances. Cables get damaged all the time, but never have two gone out simultaneously. It will take days, or even a week to repair the cables. No one knows the cause.

Reports suggested that the lack of alternative routes for internet traffic meant only a small proportion of surfers were managing to get online. Egyptian officials said that around 70% of the country's online traffic was being blocked, while officials in Mumbai said that more than half of India's internet capacity had been erased, which could have potentially disastrous consequences for the country's burgeoning hi-tech industry.

The outage will take several days to fix, and could have a drastic impact around the region and across the globe. As well as hitting communications, businesses and the hi-tech industry in affected countries, it could also have repercussions for banks and even stock market trading.

ISB among world’s Top 20 Business Schools

The Indian School of Business (ISB) had been ranked 20 in the global Business
school rankings relased by Financial Times, London. Within a short span of six years, the ISB had made a mark for itself, as a premier business school in India. With this ranking ISB has grabed world's attention, which eluded all other prominent business schools in India. Even the highly publicised IIMS haven't been able to obtain such a high ranking.

ISB is the youngest in the top 100 business schools in the world. University of Pennsylvania, Wharton, USA is ranked number one in the Financial Times rankings, followed by London Business School, UK and Colombia Business School in the US.

ISB Deputy Dean Ajit Rangneker said that, the ISB's joint research work with top business schools, the permanent faculty and research work done by the ISB were the main factors, which helped the institute in achieving the rank. He said the strength of the students in the school would go up by 560 from the next academic year from the present 425 students. Last year 40 students started their own ventures in the country. He said the ranking would attract a lot of international students in future. Five per cent of the students in ISB were from abroad.

It is really a dream come true for the Hi-Tech city(Hyderabad) dwellers, as the top ranking for ISB, comes as a feather in its cap. It would truly attract the world's attention once again(positively though), towards Hyderabad which has been in the news for all the wrong reasons in the recent past. Way to go "ISB".

Star Wars or Political Wars

Megastar Chiranjeevi fans attacked film actor Rajashekar, following his talk regarding the former's entry into politics. According to the first hand news, Rajashekar in a meeting in Bheemavaram yesterday, claimed that Chiranjeevi has no political experience, and he cannot start a party. He added that, even if he was invited to join the party, he wouldn't entertain the thought. This angered the fans of Chiranjeevi and they set out on a prowl.

Later in the morning, Chiranjeevi fans attacked Rajashekar in the state capital, Hyderabad by following his car. In this attack, Rajashekar and one of his daughter were slightly injured, following which he filed a case on fans of Chiranjeevi.

Chiranjeevi who was informed of all these proceedings , went to Rajashekar's house and apologized to him infront of media.
He strongly condemned the act of his fans. How this chapter is going to end is a million dollar question. Whether it adds to or tarnishes the image of Megastar is in the hands of time.

Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia Mansion

Mukesh is now building his new home, Residence Antillia (after a mythical, phantom island somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean). At a cost of $1 billion this would be the most expensive home on the face of the planet. At 173 meters tall Mukesh's new family residence, for a family of six, will be the equivalent of a 60-storeyed building. The first six floors are reserved for parking. The seventh floor is for car servicing and maintenance. The eighth floor houses a mini-theatre. Then there's a health club, a gym and a swimming pool. Two floors are reserved for Ambani family's guests. Four floors above the guest floors are family floors all with a superb view of the Arabian Sea . On top of everything are three helipads. A staff of 600 is expected to care for the family and their family home.

Woman On MARS

An official NASA photograph has cropped up many questions after what seems to be a woman-like figure was captured by Spirit, NASA's Mars explorer robot.

The photograph shows an woman like figure with an arm stretched and sitting lonely in a desert on MARS. Now, this sounds rediculus to many but who knows whats out there in the space. With the very little knowledge that we possess, we just cant write away the fact that there might be life out in the universe, other than our planet earth.

Spirit, sent to Mars to capture images from the surface of the planet, is one half of a $820m mission, along with its twin explorer, Opportunity.

It landed on Mars in January 2004 for a three month mission to search Gusev Crater, a rock strewn stretch of soil that scientists believe could be the bed of an ancient lake. If Mars once had surface water, it had the potential to support life.

Pushing away all the people who doubted the price, Tata Nano has arrived with pretty good looks. They claim that Nano is more spacious than Maruthi 800 , which has been the mainstay for a long time in the Indian small car industry.

But critics have hit it with the claim that, it's gonna add to the traffic and pollution problems already prevalant in India. But, come on guys what are you gonna get with a mere
$ 2500.
