The Beta version of the new "free" antivirus program Security Essentials from Microsoft(What???) is available for public to download it for "free". Yes you heard it right, this product is from Microsoft. Ofcourse it is rare but it is "free" and by free I and Microsoft together mean that you don't need to pay any money. Ok is everything clear now.
There are some silly steps involved in downloading this public free beta just like downloading other beta or RC versions from Microsoft. The pre-requisite being that you need to have a Windows Live mail account and you need to log in with it in order to start the downloading part. Also there is a survey which you need to complete before the download option appears.
The system requirements are very megre, considering the fact that very few are still stuck with the pre-XP versions of windows. A 256 mb ram is a must for XP and 1gb ram is an essential for Vista or Windows 7. It requires around 140 mb of your hard drive space. The funny part here is that in the browser section of requirements it mentions firefox 2.0 or above. Here a question arises whether MS Security Essentials provides security if we use Opera, Chrome or Safari...
Ok questions asked and Beta downloaded, here is the link for you all Microsoft fans to download and check out the new "free" antivirus software from here...
PS:: Plz uninstall other antivirus software from your computer before trying this out. This is for your safety.
