What is a 3G network, enlighten yourself !!!!

Basically the 3G network derives its name from being the third generation of mobile networking and telecommunications. 3G networks are targeted towards the cell-phone technologies and data transfers and internet access. Japan and South Korea are the countries which take credit for tasting the fruits of this network technology by launching it before other countries could even imagine or hear about one. Japan launched it in 2001 and Korea followed it in 2002. But it was not until 2007 that most countries could get hands-on this new technology.

This 3G network can handle wider range of services and can handle excellent network capacity compared to the previous version of 2G network. The information transfer speed is considerably increased in 3G network and in some countries the 3G speeds are faster than the average Wi-Fi speeds, scary but true. The download speeds have got a high boost and the range is widened by a great deal. A 3G network provides an average download speed of 14.4 mb/s and an upload speed of 5.8 mb/s according the industry norms and it sports a scope for improvement in this area.

Many phone manufacturers are now basking in glory brought to them by this 3G network like the Iphone 3Gs(with mms), T-mobile myTouch many others. Due to some unknown reasons(may be political gain or something else), countries like China and Indonesia have intentionally blocked the 3G services from entering their countries and serving the general public for several years but they now gave up and are free for all.
