Google Chrome OS - As I predicted....

Yesterday I wrote an article on Google bringing out Gmail and other Gmail apps suite like the Calendar, docs, etc out of "beta". You all might have read it and in that I predicted that there are rumors regarding an "Operating System in the making" from Google. I even quoted my 24th sense telling me that something is not right and for sure something is not right.

Today morning I woke up with the news that Google has come up with an Operating System of its own and it is tentatively called the "Google Chrome OS". According to the official Google blog, they are announcing a new project that's a natural extension of Google Chrome - the Google Chrome Operating System. They say that "its an attempt to rethink what operating systems should be". Google chrome OS is going to be a light-weight OS targeted at netbooks initially. Later this year they are going to open source the code and the netbooks running chrome OS will be available to general customers in the second half of 2010.

As always speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google chrome OS, just like the Google search engine or the other Google products. They are aiming for a startup that will be in seconds and a really fast OS. Guys at google have taken some digs at Microsoft by saying that they don't want people to always configure their computers for new hardware or software, they want people to run their computer as fast as it used to run when they bought it, they want people to get to their mail fast without opening the OS. The last one might seem interesting, 'Accessing your mail without starting the OS'.
