Sony A-series, World's thinnest walkman...

Sony has just now released a new A-series walkman kinda device, Sony NW-A840 for your music needs. This has come out in the wake of the new Zune HD from Microsoft. The all new A-series is equipped with a 2.8 inch OLED screen with a resolution of 240X400. It also sports FM radio, TV-out and noise canceling. The best part here is that it measures only 7.2 mm thick and weighs as low as 2.2 ounces. That is a miracle considering the heavier ipods and Zune HD in this category.

Right now it isn't available in US or other countries except for Japan, where the 16GB is priced at $226, 32 GB at $332. This is way above Zune HD. In Japan the player comes with premium MDR-EX300SL earphones. It plays non-stop for 29 hours of music and 9 hours of video as listed on the site.

One thing missing in this series is the touch screen and also the Wi-Fi support is not there. These two things were an integral part of the previously released X-Series. But this shiny new toy is just as good as its competitors. Should wait and see how well this goes down with the music lovers.
