How to login as an administrator in Windows XP???
This is a nice article on how to get access to your administrator account in Windows XP. Was having lot of trouble installing something important and then I was informed that I need to have adminstrator access to do smooth installation. This method is the one that will allow you to have your administrator account to show up on your welcome screen when you login into your computer.
Be careful while using the regedit because its like the human heart.
Manual registry edit::
Click Start, Run and type Regedit.exe
Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon \ SpecialAccounts \ UserList
Use the File, Export option to backup the key
Create a new DWORD Value named Administrator
Double-click Administrator, and set 1 as its data
Exit the Registry Editor.
