Wonder why Defragmentation?

Did you ever wonder, why should I defragment my computer? I guess the pic above answers your questions. You can see how many fragmented files and Contiguous files are left scattered when I analyse my system in the first place. Yes, it is my computer after the recent spyware attack that it went through. Alas forget about the spyware but let me just praise the windows defragmentation. This is one cool tool I am proud of about Windows.

To access your own defragmentation:

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter

Why Defragmentation?

There are bits of information fragmented throughout your hard drive. By fragmenting, you align the information in logical order thereby saving hard drive space and hence the speed with which the files can be accessed increases dramatically. Hope this answers your queries.

Funny Investment Ideas!

If you purchased $1,000 of Delta Airlines stock 1 year ago, you would have $49 today.

If you purchased $1,000 of AIG stock 1 year ago, you would have $33 today.

If you purchased $1,000 of Lehman Brothers stock 1 year ago, you would have $0.0 today.

But, if you purchased $1,000 worth of beer 1 year ago, drank all the beer, returned the aluminum cans for a recycling refund, you would have $214.

The World’s First MP3 Player...

You could play the MP3 files on your computer or you could even transfer them to CD - provided you didn’t mind paying out £10 for a blank disc in the first place, and waiting 30 minutes for it to write while saying a little prayer to the CD-R gods, due to the media’s high failure rate at the time.

The $250 MPMan F10 came along and changed all that, however. Most people remember the Diamond Rio (pictured left) as being the first widely-available MP3 player due to a high-profile RIAA lawsuit, however the MPMan was knocking around the more upmarket hi-fi dealers for a few months beforehand, packing a heady 32MB of storage.

Steve Jobs heavenly parking

Here are pics of Mr. Steve Jobs who does some very weird parking wherever he goes. This time he landed his Merc in a handicapped zone. One more thing, did you observe that the Merc is sans the number plate. How come the rich always get away with no traffic tickets???

Sarah Palin look-alike....

The woman in the above pic, Cindy Michaels is a Fox2 Tv news reader. But that doesn't give her the name and fame she is enjoying from the past few weeks. It's the very close features that she share with Mr. McCain's running mate Miss Sarah Palin. She is swarmed by mail and phone-calls all along this few weeks describing how she looks like the Vice-Presidential candidate......

Google Chrome - A browser by Google...

After the much-hyped IE and Firefox wars, its now a fresh player from the old school Google. Today Google has released it's own version of the web browsers named as Google Chrome. With Mozilla lab's Firefox latest version release there was a buzz that the end of the road is near for IE, but with the latest happenings in which Google is involved this might be the end of road for all other browsers.

I just downloaded the stuff and the first thing I liked about the browser is it's search facility.  To browse the Web or perform a search, start typing in the address bar. Suggestions from your browsing history, popular sites, and popular searches will appear. This is cool. Just give it a try.

Is it the new Ipod Nano....

Kevin Rose of Digg is the one to unearth the first photograph(may be) of the new, yet to be released Ipod Nano. It looks more like a curvier beast, thinner than its predecessors and definitely good looking.

Going by the way that the new Iphone 3g is being offered at lower prices, can we expect this one to be released at subsidized prices. I haven't had a nano till date. I guess I would buy one of these just to get the feel of an Ipod nano....

I am very excited after viewing these pics. I guess Windows 7 will regain what Vista has lost for Microsoft. All the cool gadgets and the pretty graphics make my heart melt. I will be head over heels, whenever this new version is gonna come out of the dark...

Michael Phelps Underwater Computing...

This is a real picture captured at University of Michigan’s swimming pool (where Phelps was studying) and not any Photoshop job. He is seen working on his macbook which I am sure is already dead, LOL. But this pic is really cool. The furniture makeup around is awesome.

Finally India stands tall but...

It has been a very long wait for the Indians at the Olympics, just for winning their first individual gold medal. It was like a dream come true for the whole nation. Mr. Abhinav Bindra has won the 10 metres air rifle event on Monday morning at the Beijing Olympics giving India its first gold medal, not just at the Beijing but in the pages of history as well. It might prove to be the stepping stone for future is what all the media is shouting from their roof-tops.

But considering the population of over 100 crores, considering the fact that India isn't an underdeveloped country, considering the fact that there were more than 50 athletes in the Olympics team of India, earning just a gold medal or a silver or a bronze is not enough, is just not enough. I am not belittiling Mr. Bindra for his tremendous achievement but I am urging for more, just more than one or two medals.

We need not ask for all the athletes to come back home only with medals, but atleast give a tough fight, rather than losing in a pitiful way just in the first round itself. The media which praises for just one medal and thrashes the players for not winning has a lot of responsibility when it comes to highlighting the woes of the athletes when they are training for the olympics. Though there is a lot being spent in the name of sports but how much of it is being spent in the right way and how much of it is fruitful to the athletes. Just think once and act a thousand times, for the betterment of our country's position in the world charts, in all the fields.

Ofcourse, I would be over the moon to congratulate Mr. Abhinav Bindra for his tremendous achievement of winning the first-ever Individual Gold for India in the Olympics....

Debbie says "Am I Rich..."?

The girl in the above pic. named Debbie Norom is a resident of L.A. But that doesn't make her any special. Neither her cozy, smart car drenched in bird droppings is the one that attracts our attention to this young beautiful lady. But the recent apple store app purchase that she made brought her instant fame but it came for her the other way.

She is one of the 8 persons who brought the $1000 worth, worthless "I Am Rich" Iphone app from the Apple store. From then on Miss. Norom is being mentioned as moron instead of Norom on many websites around the globe. Though she has no regrets regarding this issue but $1000, I believe is definitely a big amount. Though the Apple store has removed the app pretty soon, she is way to faster than the store administration itself. Way to go Debbie...

Google Basic Storage...

In 1996, Larry Page and Sergey Brin were Stanford University graduate students, working on their Digital Library Project, later known as Google. They needed a lot of storage, and the largest hard disk available was 4 gigabytes. So they connected ten of them together and built their own 40GB drive, in a case made of of Legos.

This is an article that I got my hands on through Digg. Actually what brought the interest in me was the way the author dugg the story. He just linked the article to a pic so that there won't be much bandwidth problems. For further understanding of this article Click Here...

Google Street View Camera Pic...

Ever wondered how a Google street view cam looks like. There are so many enthusiasts out there, trying hard to just get a glimpse of it. One of them had the oppurtunity to take a picture of the camera. He was kind enough to share with us.

It was really hard for him to convince the driver of the car to take some pictures of it. Just read the article in his own words and see some more of the pics HERE...

GOM Player for those VLC haters...

This is one such media player which is more like an alternative for VLC player and with much attractive interface then any other media player available in the market as of now. I have discussed before about the FOOBAR 2000 audio player. Now the GOM player has won my heart when it comes to watching movies or videos.

GOM player is one player where the interaction with the video is pretty good, I mean the dragging stuff is interesting with all user customized controls. You are the owner of your video, that's what has caught my eye. Though there is some kind of glitches when it comes to opening the video but once the video starts then the ride is pretty smooth. Give it a try folks.

iPhone 3g Blah,Blah,Blah!!!!

I have been on a long vacation just to rejuvenate myself. Nevertheless I am back and with much better prospects.

In my back to school writings I would better discuss what is all this madness about the all new iPhone. From the past few weeks I have been at the recieving end for all the nonsense about this new gadget. I mean it isn't any miracle of sorts. It is just another mobile right. It is seen as the next best thing to the Oscars. Owning one of these iPhones is like being on the top of the world.

The worst part comes when the guy standing in the line for the iPhone 3g somewhere in NewZealand is given more publicity than the suffering the world is going through or the devastation the wild fires are causing in California. Nothing personally but I believe this is pure madness and nothing else. Sorry but you all have to accept it.....

Deadly Mac Book Air...

I was wondering what this thin Mac Book Air could do other than just sitting aesthetically on the bench. I was wrong, this could become a deadly weapon considering the comments made by the person in the left picture above. He was awestruck by the effect this Mac can have on you if you are a little careless while handling this laptop. He is hurt really bad with the bruise clearly not skin deep.

The right piture shows how the Lappy is cutting into the bread, how harsh on the part of Apple. If they see these pics they would be happy that atleast the Mac Book Air is useful this way...

Waldspirale Apartment, really wonderful...

The Waldspirale apartment building in Darmstadt, Germany, has a roof completely covered with vegetation and has over a thousand windows - each UNIQUE !!!

While the striped exterior and onion domes leave much to be desired aesthetically, the ramping green roof is just amazing. It extends the green courtyard across the whole development, giving residents easy access to this area.

The building is a complete masterpiece of design and what I love about it is that it is just fun to look at!

something for the ladies...

Even today in the 21st century, a significant pay gap exists between working men and women in the United States. According to the National Committee on Pay Equity, in 2006 women earned approximately 25 percent less than men in the same occupational group with similar qualifications. This figure is especially distressing because it hasn't changed appreciably in the last decade. The National Committee on Pay Equity estimates that this wage gap may not close until 2057.

Though gender discrimination remains a lingering, insidious issue, women have more options than ever for flexible, lucrative employment. Here are five great jobs for women that are narrowing the gender wage gap.

1. Personal Financial Advisor

2. Psychologist/Therapist

3. Entrepreneur

4. Education Administrator

5. Human Resources Manager

Hope the girls are listening...

World's Biggest Drawing...

Yeah, that's what this digital painter says. The most important thing in this painting is that it was generated through the travel of a GPS system enclosed in a briefcase.

Of course the drawing may not be a masterpiece and it may not be for real, but still the thought of the artist is to be appreciated whole-heartedly...

Memorial Day Holiday...

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday that is observed on the last Monday of May (observed in 2008 on May 26). It was formerly known as Decoration Day. This holiday commemorates U.S. men and women who have died in military service to their country. It began first to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War. After World War I, it was expanded to include those who died in any war or military action.
Many people observe this holiday by visiting cemeteries and memorials. A national moment of remembrance takes place at 3 p.m. US Eastern time. Another tradition is to fly the U.S. flag at half-staff from dawn until noon local time. Volunteers usually place an American flag upon each grave site located in a National Cemetery.

YouTomb - Umm Interesting...

YouTomb is a research project by the MIT “that tracks videos taken down from [Google-owned] YouTube for alleged copyright violation,” as the site explains.

More specifically, YouTomb continually monitors the most popular videos on YouTube for copyright-related takedowns. Any information available in the metadata is retained, including who issued the complaint and how long the video was up before takedown. The goal of the project is to identify how YouTube recognizes potential copyright violations as well as to aggregate mistakes made by the algorithm.

YouTomb was built by MIT Free Culture, a student organization at MIT. Active Free Culture chapters exist at many schools and universities, they work together to promote open access to knowledge and culture.

Dangerous Google...

Did you watch the above pic in which Yahoo search results say that Google.com is a malware site. This is further assured by the most famous(most worst in my view) McAfee antivirus system.

Boy grow up, where in the world are you from to say google is a potential hazard...

Firefox 3 - The speediest browser...

This is claimed by just not me but many firefox users and the LifeHacker team has come up with some solid statement which goes like this...
Mozilla VP of engineering Mike Schroepfer claims that Firefox 3 is 9.3x faster than Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and 2.7x faster than Firefox 2 in terms of JavaScript performance. In terms of Gmail message load time, he claims Firefox 3 is 6.8x faster than IE7 and 3.8x faster than Firefox 2. And he says Firefox 3 beats Apple's Safari, which is also faster than Firefox 2.

But I still prefer firefox 2 over firefox 3 because the 3 rd version isn't yet supporting all the addons that I need and love. But you can give a try....
