Gmail turns offline client...

Gmail is now offering the much awaited offline access with Google Gears. It is said to be downloading all the mail till date from the Google servers onto your desktop. This is a pretty good service which helps in accessing all of your important mail even when you are not able to go online.

I haven't tried it myself. Before you try out this new feature, be aware that it is still an experimental thing, so you too try out this feature with your secondary mail rather than your daily usage mail. Just being cautious on my part...

YouTube Screen dimmer...

I don't know if you have observed the screen dimmer in YouTube but it is a pretty good addition. I don't know from how long it has been around but it is a pretty useful thing.

Just click the bulb icon at the top right of the video and voila this will make the screen around the video in your browser dim down to opaque so that you can enjoy your video to the fullest. You might get a doubt what if we just made the video full screen. I know you #%$@^% minds will get that doubt but what if you need to browse other tabs or monitor the download status in another tab. Huh!! now I got you....

Windows 7:: My Take...

Processor: Intel Pentium M processor 1.70 GHz
Memory(RAM): 2.00 GB
System Type: 32-bit Operating System
Memory(Hard Drive): 16.5 GB
Time for Installation: 40-45 mins
Memory used for Installation: 8.5 GB

Start-Up time: 45-50 seconds

Installed Software:

  Mozilla Firefox
  Opera
  VLC player
  7-Zip
  Adobe Reader 9
  Avast Antivirus
  CCleaner
  Picasa 3
  PowerIso

What I liked most:

Not using much resources
Gadgets free to move around
Aero Peek
Faster Response time
And most of all it's not Vista

Cons:

Still being in BETA
buggy in playing some video files

On the whole it has been a smooth ride till now except for one or two bumps. I had been waiting for this God sent Operating system from a long time and it hasn't dissapointed me in any way. It is too early to come to a conclusion on how good this OS is, but let me tell you one thing Windows is here to stay....

Is this really necessary, Mr. Obama...

Yeah!!! Mr. President, Is this really necessary? You are spending millions on your inaguration day and even the days before. In this particular period of the so called recession time, when every other company wants a chunk of the bail-out plan, do you really think it is necessary to spend so many millions on this eve.

There are reports that there is a total spending of around 100 million dollars for this whole process, which is being spent on different aspects like transportation, security, arrangements and decorations. This is funny considering the economic condition. This is just a plea from all those affected by the recession, if you can think about this, it would be really great, but I think it is pretty late...

The Burger Bed, Yummy...

Is your mouth watering after seeing the burger bed. Just imagine how delicious it is to sleep on this bed.

One thing I would like to praise is the creativity of the artist who has made this bed. Just look at the arrangement of the bed. You will go WOW...

14,528 text messages in a month...WT&*#$@...

14528, this is the count of text messages that a Californian girl sent in just one month. Do you believe this, you have to. Reina Hardesty, the just entered teen girl recieved a 440 page bill from her phone company blames her 'love to talk' for this message count. The phone company would have made a fortune if she was billed for the messages. She is saved by her unlimited messaging contract...

Congrats to the legend of Indian Music...

Ask me, who is your favorite music director in Indian cinema. I know, I know you wouldn't ask me but let me tell you, it is none other than Mr. A. R. Rahman, the living legend of Indian music. Today is a big day for him and all of those music lovers in India. It is the day when at last an Indian music director could score big at the international arena. I would like to proudly announce that our own Rahman has won the Critics choice award '09 for best composer for his larger than life score in 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

The best thing that I liked about him is that he has signed off saying 'This is for India'. I am really proud about all these happenings that are coming around. Especially after the Satyam fiasco which has come as a big blow for the Indian software industry, this is really a good news. He has been in the making from years but his talent hasn't been recognized. Alas better late than never his work is recognized internationally.

Is Steve really ill???

Yes, says this photographic comparision of Steve Jobs. He is losing weight and the process is pretty fast. The weight loss is to be blamed on a particular harmone which is causing him to lose weight drastically. This may or may not lead him to his death bed but I don't want such a legend to go down this early. Praying for his good health...

World's thinnest television unveiled...

The world's thinnest television was unveiled on Tuesday measuring just 6.5mm (0.26inches). The wafer thin television, which was created by the South Korean company Samsung Electronics, is being hailed as the world's slimmest television ever created.

Its features include a LCD (liquid crystal display) screen as well as an LED (light emitting diode) backlighting system, to which its creators attribute its record slimline structure. Electronics companies are expected to unveil even thinner televisions in the near future based on new screen technology known as organic light emitting diode (OLED).
Wait for the CES 2009 where you can get a better flavor of this spell bounding television. It will make you awestruck. Hail Samsung...

This is interesting...

Today morning I read this news about Windows 7, the new operating system in the making from Microsoft. It says that, the new OS is booting up in less than 30 seconds and it is still in its beta testing state. This news is from the LifeHacker website, where the author has done the tests himself on one of the best configured systems available in the market.

Me being a fanboy of XP didn't switch to Vista because of various reasons, the best one being it's nothing much appealing to me. But with the latest and good news coming up every other day about Windows 7, I am very much in the wait.

My new favorite - Launchy...

Launchy is a free windows and linux utility designed to help you forget about your start menu, the icons on your desktop, and even your file manager. Launchy indexes the programs in your start menu and can launch your documents, project files, folders, and bookmarks with just a few keystrokes!

This is one cool software which has caught my eye and has been worth a try. It is really a useful software in quickly launching all your cool stuff in a giffy. Trust me the software stands upto its name. You can download it from here.

Wonder err... Mysterious Kid...

A boy named Boris Kipriyanovich, or Boriska, lives in the town of Zhirinovsk of Russia’s Volgograd region. He was born on January 11, 1996. Since he was four he used to visit a well-known anomalous zone, commonly referred to as Medvedetskaya Gryada – a mountain near the town. It seems that the boy needed to visit the zone regularly to fulfill his needs in energy.
Why am I writing about him? Just because he predicts a big trouble for our mother earth. He might be a small kid but the stuff that he speaks about is really fascinating and absolutely frightening. He knows everything from the birth of universe to the civilizations that once existed on planet Mars.
I can't explain everything about him here but just CLICK HERE to know more about him.

Caution is better than cure...

The pic above is of the netload file hosting website. Why did I post this pic? What's the big deal? There is a big deal which can save you from malware and can make you free from mental tension. The SponsorAds pop-up has the maximize button and the close button swapped and when you try to close it in the regular fashion, it is you who is inviting trouble.

Just by clicking the pop-up to close, you innocently are bringing in a lot of malware and adware into your computer. I am one such victim of this pop-up. Just thought to save you guys from trouble...

Battery of the future...

Is this battery really possible? "It's easy when you have a battery the size of New Jersey.", says a friend of mine. But really if this come into being then it would be a dream come true. 100 hours of blogging would you mend your ways...

Hail Nikon D90...

Just double click on the photo above and see the details it carries. You will go awe after watching the pic. It wasn't taken by a professional photographer but by an Indian with a lot of interest in photography. I really appreciate him for making such a nice choice while buying the NIkon D90.

This is one cool pic to make your new year as fresh and as detailed as the pic above. Wishing you all again a happy new year and I will be looking forward to buying one such cam for myself may be the Nikon D90 itself...
